SKIMS blacklists supplier firm for five years for alleged fraud

Srinagar: Administration at the Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) Soura has blacklisted a firm for five years for producing fake documents in the bidding process.

A statement by the SKIMS administration this afternoon said that the agency under the name M/S LM Agencies has been debarred for five years from participate in any tendering process at SKIMS Soura & SKIMS Medical College Bemina for “violating the provision of tendering by not declaring the requisite certificates”.

   

The said company had submitted quotation in response to Tender No. SIMS 324 NIT 14 (Imports) 2017, Dated: 17-06-2017 under two bid cover system for procurement of forty 12-Channel ECG Machines.

However, the company failed to respond satisfactorily and produced fake documents / requisite certificates in response to representation received from M/S Krishna Medi Equipments, New Delhi wherein they had mentioned that the agency does not have European CE Approval or USFDA Approval certificates, the statement said.

As per the statement, the representation was referred to Convenor Technical Committee for necessary action which remarked and recommended that the agency failed to produce requisite certificates by notified body and thus failed to respond satisfactorily to the queries raised and not furnished requisite documents / certificates.

It said the company was given ample opportunities to clarify their stand which resulted in protracting the procurement process too long when any delay in ensuring supply chain could result in catastrophic situation.

“Underlining the seriousness of the matter the administration blacklisted and debarred the agency for five years to participate in any tendering process at SKIMS & SKIMS Medical College Bemina, ” it added.
