New Delhi, Feb 22: Congress is poised to vie for the East and North West Delhi Lok Sabha seats, party sources disclosed, following the culmination of seat-sharing negotiations with AAP after extensive deliberations this week.

The Indian Express, citing insider information, reported that the Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) have reached a consensus on the allocation of the seven Lok Sabha seats in Delhi after rigorous discussions this week. “Sources privy to the discussions confirmed a four-three seat-sharing arrangement, with AAP securing four constituencies and Congress three,” stated the newspaper.

A prominent Congress official indicated that the agreement was solidified after AAP acquiesced to Congress’ proposal to contest one Lok Sabha seat of its preference and another suggested by Congress. “The formal announcement of the alliance, detailing the distribution of seats, is anticipated on Friday,” the official remarked.

Congress insiders revealed that regardless of the third seat they contest, the alliance is likely to secure the East and North West Lok Sabha seats. According to a senior Congress figure, the third seat under consideration could be from among Chandni Chowk, New Delhi, or West Delhi Parliamentary constituencies. “We will evaluate the viability of candidates proposed by both parties for the third seat, but Congress will probably field its contenders for the East and North West Delhi Lok Sabha seats,” the Congress leader affirmed.
