Srinagar, Apr 30: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) President and former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Mehbooba Mufti, emphasized the importance of electing a representative who will advocate for the people’s interests in Parliament and urge New Delhi to reconsider the decisions made on August 5, 2019. She concurrently highlighted PDP’s consistent advocacy for its constituents over the past 22 years, regardless of the circumstances.

Speaking at a public convention in South Kashmir’s Anantnag, Mehbooba Mufti stressed that the ongoing Lok Sabha elections provide an opportunity to choose a representative who will effectively voice the concerns of the people, rather than merely focusing on infrastructure development.

“Jammu and Kashmir is facing challenges such as power shortages, increased utility bills, and rising unemployment. Youth are being detained by police on mere suspicion. In such circumstances, we need a credible and outspoken representative who will truly represent the aspirations of the people in Parliament,” Mehbooba stated.

She emphasized the necessity of electing someone who will demand that New Delhi reverses the decisions made on August 5, 2019, and restores the rights of the people of J&K.

“New Delhi must return our rights with interest. The people of J&K refuse to become slaves. This is not just about NC or PDP; it’s about sending a representative to Parliament who will advocate for the people and convey their aspirations to the nation,” Mehbooba added.
