Wular Lake to get major facelift inspired by Dal Lake’s Boulevard

Srinagar, Mar 24:Inspired by the Boulevard road along the Dal Lake in Srinagar, the Wular Conservation and Management Authority (WUCMA) has decided to give the Asia’s second largest fresh water lake in bandipora a major facelift.

The project as per news agency KNS aims to create ‘eco-friendly’ boulevard along the parameters of Wular Lake. The initiate is part of a series of efforts to turn the area into a hub of attraction including a walkway from Garoora to Banyari, which is now in the final phase of construction.

   

“The new walkway and the planned activities will not only make the lake more accessible but more adorable to everyone,” a local shopkeeper told KNS.

Wular Lake, known for its vast expanse and historical significance, has long been a centerpiece of life in Bandipora. “Wular isn’t just a lake; it’s a part of our history. Seeing it get the attention it deserves feels like a new chapter for Bandipora,” said an elderly resident.

The introduction of water sports is another highlight of the project, set to attract adventure enthusiasts and nature lovers alike. “I’m excited to see families and tourists engaging in water sports. It’s going to bring a new energy to the lake,” a young local entrepreneur said.

The WUCMA’s vision for Wular Lake is not just about aesthetic enhancements but also about promoting sustainable tourism and preserving the ecological integrity of the Bandipora.

“We’re committed to developing Wular Lake in a way that respects its natural environment while providing economic benefits to the local community,” said an official.

The transformation is expected to make Wular Lake a destination of choice for visitors seeking tranquility and beauty in the heart of Kashmir.
