Services of 217 employees terminated in Kishtwar

The services of 217 employees, engaged under National Health Mission (NHM), National Aids Control Organization (NACO), National Program for Prevention and Control of Cancer, Diabetes, CVD and Stroke (NPCDCS) and DEOs, have been terminated for allegedly “not following” directions passed by the chairman district health society, Kishtwar. 

As per details with Greater Kashmir, the termination order was issued by the chairman district health society, Angrez Singh Rana, who is also the district development commissioner, on the instructions of higher authorities. 

   

Vice-chairman of the district society, Abdul Majeed, who is also the chief medical officer, Kishtwar, told Greater Kashmir, “Several chances were given to the employees to comply with the directions. A notice was also served to them on February 12, 2019, wherein they were asked to resume duties by or before 4 pm of February 14, 2019, but they did not comply.”

“The healthcare in the district had been severely affected due to their (NHM) strike and it had become almost impossible for the authorities to provide basic health services across the district. That’s why, all contractual employees were called through notice to resume their duties, but they have failed to follow the order. As a result, the services of 217 employees have been terminated,” the vice-chairman said.

He added that the order for 203 employees was issued from the office of the chairman, while the order for 14 others was issued from the office of the director, health department.

Pertinently, NHM employees had been on strike for over a month to press for their demands.
