Covid19 | 19 more test positive

The number of COVID19 positive cases in J&K jumped to 94 from 75, a jump of 19 cases on Saturday, the highest for any day.

At SKIMS, 13 samples tested positive today while threesamples tested positive at CD Hospital. Three samples tested positive in Jammu.

   

Kupwara district registered itself on the COVID19 map ofJ&K today with five positive cases, tested at Sher-e-Kashmir Institute ofMedical Sciences.

Medical superintendent SKIMS, Dr Farooq Jan, said that fourcases had travel history of Bangladesh. These patients, an official said, hadtravelled to the country as part of a religious congregation. One more COVID19person from district Kupwara has travel history to Delhi.

The neighbouring district of Baramulla also has three newCOVID19 patients, all residents of Tangmarg. The new positives are contacts ofthe son of COVID19 positive man who died last week at CD Hospital.

Eight of these patients, five from Kupwara and three fromBaramulla, were admitted at Government Medical College (GMC) Baramulla. Fivemore patients, who tested positive at SKIMS, were admitted at the isolationward of the Institute itself.

Four of these cases were from northern district ofBandipora. Two of the patients, Dr Jan said, had travel history of Delhi andtwo had recently travelled to Jammu.

One person from Kupwara, with travel history of Delhi wasalso admitted at SKIMS and tested positive today.

At Chest Disease Hospital, three samples tested positivetoday. Dr S Saleem Khan said the samples had been received from districthospital Pulwama. “Two of the patients from Shopian were contacts of COVID19positive patient, while one person who had travelled to Delhi also testedpositive,” he said.

In Kashmir, the total number of samples that tested positivetoday stood at 16, while three samples had been found positive at Jammu. Thecase tally of COVID19 in J&K reached 94 today.

Meanwhile five patients, who were admitted to CD Hospitalfor treatment of COVID 19 have recovered. Their samples have tested negativefor the virus now, indicating recovery. Dr Naveed Nazir Shah, in-charge COVID19at the hospital, shared the news on social media today. Speaking to GreaterKashmir, he said, “We will test the patients again as a protocol and if thesecond sample also tests negative, they are fit to be discharged.”
