6-member Jammu Bar team to oppose Art 35A

The BJP state chief spokesperson along with five other senior advocates including a former Chief Justice, are likely to appear in the Supreme Court on August 27 on behalf of the Bar Association Jammu (BAJ) to oppose the Article 35-A.

The BAJ has constituted a 5-member team of senior advocates allowing them to “include more advocates in the team, if required, to seek revocation of Article 35-A,” Bar general secretary, Prem Sadhotra said.

   

The BAJ team includes former CJ of Sikkim High Court, Parmodh Kohli, BJP state chief spokesperson, Sunil Sethi, senior advocates UK Jajali and RK Gupta, BAJ general secretary, Prem Gupta and president BS Slathia. 

“The team will appear in the Supreme Court on August 27,” Sadhotra said.

Meanwhile, BAJ president BS Slathia said that apart from these members, more advocates are also likely to a appear in the SC to plead the case.

“BAJ will write letters to all the senior advocates of Jammu requesting them to join the team so that strong and effective arguments are put up before the Supreme Court,” Slathia told Greater Kashmir.

BAJ general secretary, Prem Gupta has filed an application before the apex court on behalf of BAJ seeking to intervene in the case. 

On Aug 6, the Supreme Court had adjourned the hearing in the case.
