Northern Command establishes helplines for people

Army’s Northern Command has set up telephone help lines as a measure to combat spread of Coronavirus in J&K.

“The army has established multiple telephone helplines toprovide information and assistance to people of Jammu and Kashmir,” saidUdhampur based PRO Defense, Lt Col Abhinav Navneet.

   

He said there was a sense of uncertainty among people, asmany were not sure what measures to take to safeguard themselves and theirfamily.

“There have been series of fake social media uploadscreating panic among people. To this effect the army has been undertakingintense awareness campaigns updating public with all relevant informationduring this pandemic through various platforms,” he said.

He said these initiatives were meant to ensure thatindividuals do not become unwitting carriers of the virus and were wellinformed about various preventive measures to be adopted.

“In order to help people tomanage stresses related to COVID -19 and to provide immediate relief to thoseseeking advice, helpline numbers have been activated across the UT of J&K,”he said.

He said Srinagar residentscan reach out for help on 0194-2467326 while as residents of other districtscan seek assistance through helpline on 0195-2238826 (Baramulla),0195-5252996(Kupwara), 0194-2496618 (Shalateng), 0193-3247087 (Awantipura),0191 254 7896 (Nagrota ), Akhnoor (0192 425 4244), Rajouri (0196 226 2477), Batote(0199 824 4361), Palma (0196 226 1503), Reasi (0199 124 5319) and Narian (0196023 0026).

Helpline numbers for Ladakh are Leh (01982- 259011), Karu(01982- 249078), Kumbathang (01935- 278113) and Partapur (01980- 221013).

“The helplines will be active 24×7 to address generalquestions and concerns regarding the prevention of COVID-19,” he said.
