Will see how it happens: Farooq Abdullah on BJP’s claim to form Government

National Conference President Farooq Abdullah Monday criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for its resolution that they would form the next government and termed it an attempt to mislead the people of J&K again after the abrogation Article 370.

Speaking at the National Conference headquarters in Jammu on the occasion of International Women’s Day, Abdullah said that BJP used to say that development and prosperity would come after the abrogation of Article 370 and Article 35-A.

“Nothing has come to J&K after that,” he said.

Abdullah said that the dream of those who claim of coming to power in J&K would never be fulfilled even as they were making noise for it.

He was referring to the resolution of BJP adopted in Katra meeting.

Cautioning people against the politics of religion and hate, the NC chief said that he would see how it was going to happen.

He asked his party leaders and workers to expose people who had promised development and prosperity after the abrogation of Article 370 but had failed in delivering on the promises they made.

“They are saying that they will form the government. I will see how it is going to happen. Will they come from the sky? We are standing in their way. How will you remove us,” Abdullah said.

Expressing displeasure on being dubbed as Pakistanis, he said this is done despite the sacrifices of their leaders and workers for the tricolour.

The three-time chief minister questioned the government on whether militancy had ended in J&K and if so, why were people still being killed in Kashmir.

“Few days back, two policemen were killed by the militants who have no religion. They shot dead two unarmed policemen who had gone to the market to buy something close to their camp,” he said.

Abdullah said that nobody had got jobs after the abrogation of Article 370 though the BJP government had promised so.

“Instead the price of essential commodities has increased. It is not possible to run household affairs with a single salary when the prices of essential commodities price have gone through the roof,” he said.

Abdullah said that when special status of J&K was abrogated they distributed sweets, and after losing the Article 370, people had realized that they had lost.

He said that there was so much poverty due to the BJP rule that a mother in Jammu had been forced to sell her daughter.

Abdullah said that the hospitals were not accepting the Golden Cards and denying treatment to the patients.

“This promise of Golden Cards is just like the BJP’s poll promise of Rs 15 lakh being credited in every Indian’s account,” he said.

The NC chief said that India being a signatory to the United Nation’s Charter was duty bound to take care of the Rohingya refugees.
