In an attempt to clear air, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Sunday said that Article 35-A is sub-judice and dispatching additional troops to the Valley has nothing to do with it.
Senior BJP leader, Syed Shahnawaz Hussain, on being askedabout rumours regarding abrogation of Article 35-A during a TV debate, said,”Article 35-A is sub-judice. The additional forces have been sent there becausewe had intelligence inputs. And they have been deployed for protection.”
“When we will plan to abrogate Article 35-A, we will make aproper announcement and we will not do it like this. The local politicians knowthat nothing of that sort is happening, but they are deliberately creatingconfusion,” he said.
Hussain, however clarified that BJP’s stand on the specialstatus is known to all, but added that the issue is being raked up by PDPPresident. “PDP has been marganilsed. That is why they are resorting to suchstatements,” he said.
