Sanitation workers of Municipal Committee Budgam Saturday staged a protest at press enclave here in favour of their demands.
“We are discharging our duties with honesty and dedication in order to maintain the environment clean and green. But unfortunately some Jamadars are misbehaving with us and using abusive language,” said Mohammad Rafiq, a protestor.
“We are being disrespected by the jamadars,” said another protester. The protesters alleged the higher officials were treating them as “slaves”.
The protesters threatened to strike work if their grievances are not addressed. “Since we are doing our work to the satisfaction of our superiors, there is no occasion for anyone to misbehave with us or create difficulties for us.” Meanwhile, they requested the higher authorities to take appropriate note of their grievance and take strict action against the officials who are misbehaving with them.
