Advisor to Governor KK Sharma Monday said the Government has taken adequate measures to ensure proper decentralization of powers by equipping municipal committees with necessary powers.
The Advisor was interacting with a deputation of CouncilorsCoordination Committee, led by Presidents and Vice-Presidents of variousmunicipal committees of Kashmir and Ladakh division.
The Advisor while referring to various initiatives undertakenby the government in housing and urban development sector said that electedrepresentatives of the committees should also contribute their bit in fastpacing the developmental initiative which would ensure that people across thestate are provided with quality amenities in consonance with modern housingneeds.
He said the issues projected by them would be resolved in atime-bound manner so that various committees discharge their function to thesatisfaction of people living in these areas.
The issues projected by the delegation included security andaccommodation, honorarium and meeting charges, functioning of municipalitiesvis-a-vis developmental activities, constitution of committees under section 49of Municipal Act, transfer of powers with other departments and other relatedissues.
Later, other public deputations including DRWs of PHEdepartment, compiler aspirants of the Finance department called on the Advisorand projected their demands.
The Advisor assured them their genuine demands would beaddressed at an earliest.
