The Jammu and Kashmir High Court has provided job to a law graduate who had become a victim of acid attack on the outskirts of Srinagar in December 2014.
The Court appointed the victim as Research Assistant oncontractual basis against a consolidated salary of Rs 40000 after sheapproached it with her trail of miseries.
“I have undergone 19 surgeries and I am not able to seethrough one eye. I am getting treatment from Apollo Hospital Chennai. Provideme some suitable job in the field of law which can meet some of the ends of mytreatment and problems of life,” the victim said in her application to theRegistrar General.
“By this you can help me out of the darkness and can providemeans to revival of my life where I can work and live the life like others,”she said.
The victim has been appointed as Research Assistant on therecommendation of Chief justice Gita Mittal.
On 11 December 2014, two car borne youth attacked the victimwith acid on the outskirts of Srinagar at the gate of Kashmir Law College whereshe was pursuing law. The incident changed her life forcing her to undergomultiple surgeries. She however completed the law degree in first division in2017.
The High Court had passed a slew of directions to thegovernment on a Public Interest Litigation filed by Kashmir Bar AssociationKashmir.
She got a cumulative amount of Rs 23 lakh as expenses of hermedical treatment and shall continue to get the expenses till her medicaltreatment is complete.
