IGNOU holds Convocation at KU

The regional center of IGNOU organized its 32nd convocation at Gandhi Bhawan, University of Kashmir here on Wednesday.

During the function at least 11000 degrees were awarded tolearners in different disciplines.

   

The main highlight of the convocation was gold medal awardedto Nazma Yaqoob, a mother of a child, hailing from a of Kokernag in Anantnag,for securing first position, throughout the country, in order of merit in PostGraduate Diploma in Rural Development, said a statement.

Vice chancellor KU Prof Talat Ahmad was the guest of honourand the convocation was presided over by Dr Tariq Ashai, coordinator IGNOU(Amar Singh College, Srinagar). In his address Prof Talat said that IGNOU wasdoing great service in the field of distance education by providing highereducation to peoples. 

Dr Nurul Hasan, regional director IGNOU, presented adetailed and comprehensive report about Srinagar Centre highlighting  its activities in Kashmir including Leh andKargil.

In his presidential address Dr Ashai highlighted mainactivities of IGNOU and praised the work done by the regional centre especiallyfor the Kashmir Valley.
