10 yrs on, Awantipora bridge incomplete

The construction of a bridge at Dogripora-Awantipora was started more than a decade ago, yet it is nowhere near completion. Once completed the bridge would connect more than three dozen villages to national highway on one side and equal number of villages to railway station Panzgam from other side.

Unfortunately the work on the bridge was stopped completelythree years ago. The government has incorporated the bridge in languishingprojects, but still funds have not been released for re-starting the work. Weappeal to the Lt. Governor GC Murmu and other authorities concerned to resumeand expedite the work on the bridge.

Water shortage in Handwara village

A mdarpora-Vilgam village in Handwara is facing acute shortage of drinking water. At present the village is supplied water directly from Dagerwadi nallah which has become a dumping ground for garbage. This contaminated water supply is not only proving a health hazard, but it puts a big question mark on the performance of the Jal Shakti department. We appeal to the authorities concerned to look into the matter and ensure the village gets the water supply fit for consumption.
