COVID19: 4.23 lakh people covered under health audit in Srinagar

More than 4.23 lakh people have been covered under health survey in this district which was started last month to trace persons having COVID19 symptoms.

An official said the main objective of the survey was toprevent spread of corona infection and identify the COVID19 probable.

   

During the ongoing survey, around 26 persons have been foundto have COVID19 like symptoms, said the official, adding all of them have beenkept under medical supervision.

An official said at least 700 teams have been deputed acrossthe district to conduct the survey. The teams comprise doctors, paramedics,healthcare workers and employees of social welfare department.

“So far, we have covered more than 4.23 lakh peopleunder this survey. Earlier, there were some complaints of non-cooperation.However, everything is going smoothly now,” said additional deputycommissioner, Srinagar Syed Sajad Qadri.

There were some complaints of non-cooperation in few areas,following which Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar Shahid Iqbal Choudhary visitedthe areas to create awareness among people.

He also used social media to create awareness and seekcooperation of public to make the health audit a success.

“The teams visit houses, collect data and note down thehealth status of each family member. Necessary protocol is being followed incase any person is found to be a corona probable,” said Qadri.

He said the survey was also helping to trace people withtravel history, those having come in contact with COVID19 patients, and peopleshowing any symptoms.

Qadri said the audit was the strongest tool to fightcoronavirus. “It can help break the chain of infection and prevent communitytransmission,” he said.

He said the teams also create awareness among masses aboutsymptoms and precautions, besides informing people about mobile healthapplication Arogya Setu.

“The app helps in identifying risk of contracting coronavirus.Individuals can also use this mobile application to alert authorities if theyhave come in close contact with a person infected with the virus. Besides, theapplication will alert people if there is any symptomatic patient in theirvicinity,” he said.

Qadri said the audit was collective effort to fight COVID19and asked people to cooperative with visiting teams.

Srinagar has already set up Standard Operating Procedures(SOPs) for 18 designated red zones.

The district has 131 COVID19 cases with 52 active cases, 76recovered and 3 deaths.
