The All India Institute of Medical Sciences has not allotted centres in Kashmir for post graduation entrance examination, causing resentment among the valley’s aspirants who appealed authorities to designate centres locally.
All The AIIMS PG 2019 entrance examination is scheduled tobe conducted on May 5.
Greater Kashmir received distress emails from many aspirantswho complained that they won’t be in a position to travel to Jammu forappearing in the exams.
“We have been allotted exam centres only in Jammu and not inKashmir. We request the governor administration to intervene and shift ourcentres to the valley,” said Hamza, an aspirant.
The aspirants said travelling out of the valley for takingthe PG entrance exams was difficult for them and it disturbs their last minutepreparations.
“In the given circumstances of weather conditions, we cannotrely on travelling via Jammu-Srinagar highway. Besides, the airfares areunaffordable for us,” Hamza said.
The aggrieved aspirants have appealed to the governoradministration to take up the matter with authorities at AIIMS as early aspossible.
“Every exam conducting body ignores Kashmir in allotment ofcentres which causes inconvenience to the students. They should considersetting up centres locally while holding any national level competitive exams,”another student said.
Earlier, National Testing Agency (NTA) – the body thatconducts NEET undergraduate exams – had allotted exam centres for around 3500Kashmiri students outside the valley and in other states.
Following resentment among the aspirants the NTA allottedfour additional exam centres in Kashmir.
Advisor to J&K Governor K Vijay Kumar said commissionersecretary health department, Attul Daloo will be entrusted to take up thematter with AIIMS.
“I don’t think we have much concern with this All Indialevel exams but we will see whatever possible could be done to set up an examcentre here and help the students,” Kumar said.
