Police arrest 5 drug peddlers in Pulwama

Police in its recent action against drug dealings in Pulwama has arrested five persons during raids in different areas of Pulwama.

A police spokesman said  that five accused were apprehended for the drug supply offences. They have been taken to Police Station Pulwama where they remain in custody.

“Officers have seized 86.4 Kilograms of Poppy straw and banned pharmaceutical substances from their possession. Case FIR No’s.  123/19, 124/19, 126/19, 127/19, 130/19 under relevant sections of law have been registered in Police Station Pulwama and initiated investigations in the matter,” the spokesman added.

He said, “Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighborhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.”


Meanwhile, Budgam Police in the recent days have registered 5 FIRs against illegal excavators across the jurisdiction of Police Station, a police spokesman said.

He said that Police have arrested 6 persons in these cases. Four JCB machines used for excavation and nine dumpers (tippers) involved in illegal transportation of clay have also been seized.

Moreover, Budgam police have arrested a notorious criminal involved in illegal excavation of clay over many years. Six FIRs stands registered against him. He was produced before the competent court of law.
