‘Provide PPEs to frontline workers in Anantnag’

Principal district and sessions judge Anantnag on Friday directed District Magistrate (DM) to provide safety kits to police personnel and other frontline workers against COVID19.

The judge as Chairman District Legal Service Authority (DLSA) directed the DM to provide the PPE kits, hand gloves, sanitizers, masks and other necessary equipment to the frontline workers like police personnel, doctors, paramedical officials and municipal volunteers handling COVID19, without any delay.

While hearing a plea by a lawyer and social activist, Ashiq Hussain, the court said in view of the fact that recently more than 50 police personnel tested positive in a single day and the number of cases has shown an unprecedented increase, it has become imperative that that the frontline workers and warriors should be provided equipment and gadgets so that they can fight the pandemic.

In case, the court said, the police personnel and other frontline warriors were not provided the kits; the district administration will not only be risking the lives of the frontline warriors but compromising with lives of general public

“In such a situation it becomes imperative for this authority to step in and initiate action in the matter and direct the concerned for necessary action as warranted under law,” the court said.

Advocate Hussain submitted that police personnel and other officials in the district were facing difficulties in fighting the pandemic for shortage of necessary equipment.
