Restore security of political leaders, workers: PDP to Govt

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Friday PDP appealed to the government to restore security of political leaders and workers, who were deprived of it recently.

“Ifgovernment wants maximum participation of people then security should beprovided to these leaders and workers in view of prevailing situation in theValley,” said PDP vice-president AR Veeri.

Hesaid by withdrawing security of political leaders and workers, the governmenthas made them vulnerable in the current atmosphere. Veeri accused ElectionCommission of India of deliberately jeopardizing participation of people in theupcoming polls by having decided to club booths together.

“Asper our information, the ECI has clubbed 10-15 booths together and manyvillages will have their booths in a single village. This will make impossiblefor the voters to travel to cast their votes,” he said. Veeri said the party appealsto ECI to reallocate booths in every village so that people could easilyparticipate in the election process.

Senior PDP leader GhulamNabi Lone (Hanjura) accused that the state administration was backing a certainpolitical party for upcoming Lok Sabha elections. “The Centre and ElectionCommission of India’s claim that the elections will be fair and free is a hoaxas several government employees were openly campaigning for a political party,”said Lone without naming the party, adding he has already written to the ECIabout the matter.

Accordingto Lone he has submitted video-graphic proof to the ECI to prove that severalgovernment employees were supporting a political party.
