Shopian, Kulgam vote for basic amenities

For most voters in Zainpora, Shopian, development of the area brought them out to vote.

Khursheed Ahmad, a voter, said that the area had been facing acute paucity of potable water since long and hopes that their elected representative would resolve the issue.

“This was the sole reason for me to vote,” he said.

Like Ahmad, many voters said that they voted for basic amenities.

Zahoor Ahmad, a voter from Reshipora village told Greater Kashmir that apart from development, people in his village voted to keep the “communal forces” at bay.

In Tarigam village, the voters said that they voted to take the development of the area to the next level.

“Our elected representative over the past few years changed the face of this area. He brought much development here. We are voting for more development,” said Bashir Ahmad.

In Sonigam village too, the issue of development mostly brought people to the polling stations.
