VMS holds car rally for specially abled

The Voluntary Medicare Society (VMS) on Friday held car rally for specially-abled people to commemorate International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD).

The statement from the NGO said that the rally was aimed at sensitizing drivers about safe driving, particularly when specially-abled people could also the them driving their vehicles on roads.

   

“One of the main purposes of the car rally was to generate awareness about the fact that specially-abled people do also drive vehicles. The people without any disability need to be fair towards such persons, who are trained to drive slowly and safely, with specific logo prominently displayed on their vehicles,” it said.

Nearly 20 people participated in the rally including 14 specially-abled people. The rally was flagged off from VMS campus Bemina by Principal Government Medical College Srinagar, Dr Samia Rashid who was the chief guest on the occasion in presence of other guests of honor including Satish Vimal from All India Radio Srinagar and Sandeep Singh Bali, Assistant Commissioner Revenue Srinagar.
