8 injured in road accidents

Eight persons sustained injuries in separate road accidents in Rajouri and Poonch districts on Sunday.

The police said, “A bus, JK02AP 3696, en route to old busstand Rajouri from Nagesh workshop bridge, turned turtle. The accident tookplace at about 11:40 am on the kacha road, which has been constructed along theHillmilton bridge for temporary vehicular movement.”

   

In the accident, police said, six persons sustainedinjuries. They were shifted to district hospital, Rajouri, where they areundergoing treatment.

Dr Mehmood Bajar from GMC&AH hospital, Rajouri, toldGreater Kashmir: “Six injured were brought into the emergency ward of thehospital at about 12:15 pm. They have been undergoing treatment since then.”

He identified the injured as Shivati Gupta (12), her motherRutma Gupta (37), Nazir Hussain (40), Zameer Hussain (54) and his wife IqbalBegum (40), and Hassan Mohammad (50).

Dr Bajar further said that the deputy commissioner, MohammadAijaz Asad, and additional deputy commissioner, Sher Singh, also visited thehospital and met the injured.

Meanwhile, the locals blamed the public works department forthe accident. “Even after repeated requests of improving the temporary road,the department did nothing. Had they listened to our demands, the accidentcould have been prevented,” they said.

Meanwhile, in Bhimber Gali area of Mendhar, 60-year-oldSayeeda Begum fell from a motorcycle on Sunday afternoon.

Block Medical Officer, Mendhar, Dr Parvez Khan, said, “Thewoman was shifted to Dhargaloon hospital for treatment, but she was referred toMendhar sub-district hospital from where she was further referred to Rajourihospital.”

The BMO said that the woman sustained an injury in her head.

In another accident, a tipper, JK11C 9062, plunged into theroadside fields at Jamola village when it was on its way to Jamola fromSaranoo. As a result, the driver received injuries.

He was shifted to Rajouri hospital, where he was undergoingtreatment.

Police have taken cognizance of all the incidents.

Furthermore, two boys riding on a motorcycle, JK11A 9813,had a narrow escape after their motorcycle came under a tanker, JK02AJ 4225,near Nowshera bridge.

Both the boys remained unhurt, but the motorcycle wasdamaged in the accident.
