A 40-year-old woman died after she slipped and fell from a hillock in Reasi district on Thursday.
Reports said, “Afroza Begum, wife of Mohammad Sbdar and a resident of Dewal, slipped from a hillock at Nihoch and fell into a deep gorge, while she was travelling towards Mahore. A teacher by profession, Afroza, died on the spot.”
Meanwhile, the residents of Gulabgarh staged a demonstration in Jammu’s Bathindi area against the death. The protesters said, “The road in Gulabgarh has been lying since the past two months and the administration does not seem bothered. Had the road been open, the woman would not be forced to tread on the dangerous path through the hillock and she would have been alive.”
They claimed to have raised the issue before the concerned authorities a number of times, but “nothing has been done yet”.
They said that Afroza’s death is the third such incident since the road was closed.
