A 40-year-old woman died after she slipped and fell from a hillock in Reasi district on Thursday.
Reports said, “Afroza Begum, wife of Mohammad Sbdar and aresident of Dewal, slipped from a hillock at Nihoch and fell into a deep gorge,while she was travelling towards Mahore. A teacher by profession, Afroza, diedon the spot.”
Meanwhile, the residents of Gulabgarh staged a demonstrationin Jammu’s Bathindi area against the death. The protesters said, “The road inGulabgarh has been lying since the past two months and the administration doesnot seem bothered. Had the road been open, the woman would not be forced totread on the dangerous path through the hillock and she would have been alive.”
They claimed to have raised the issue before the concernedauthorities a number of times, but “nothing has been done yet”.
They said that Afroza’s death is the third such incidentsince the road was closed.
