Of Mantris, Sahabs and Begum jees

Strange are the ways of politicians. They say. At least, that is quite clear when we look at unceremonious exit of PDP ministers and members from their chairs of power. The PDP, as the public is well aware, has many ‘firsts’ to its credit and yet it didn’t seem to go great guns. Reason: Not carrying well with those connected at the apex. Mentors, Godfathers and Sugar daddies. After all, why do people cultivate them? Simple: To bail oneself out whenever one fishes in troubled waters. And when the whole ambiance is that of trouble, one cannot but realize that this art of having Godfathers is so crucial for survival! But what happened that Godfathers dumped their Kashmiri Bakhts? It was not at all a difficult decision to make. In fact, PDP Bakhts didn’t make the decision. It was made for them. They couldn’t chart their own destiny; BJP charted it for them.

Sycophancy, of any type, is not only required but in great demand. The Mantri, Sahabs, Begum jees and even their Ghulams will look askance for you, followed by their coterie if you dare to question. But still, if you are a novice, you could kick off with a title “Sycophant in a day” or other such great publication. Better more, if you know someone in bureaucracy, you can get the feel of real-time sycophants. You will find bureaucracy unique; you can’t find such people even if searched with Lasers. Like them or not but you can’t ignore them for they have tricks up their sleeve for all times and languages to parrot as the occasion demands. That’s why the political platform they exploit for self-promotion suddenly turns “rotten political system” as and when they get “freed” (fired by default) from positions of authority!

Well, one has good regard for many of such Mantris, Sahabs, and Begum jees who are fiery orators, writers, and astute preachers. But what they could not do as public servants, they hope to complete after their innings is over, provided they don’t play turncoat for rehabilitation or re-employment and are ready to accept that one has to retire one day. Interminable employment, by the way, is becoming an endemic accounting towards unemployment in the State.

Anyways, Mantris, Sahabs, and Begum jees owe us a lot. They should come up with “Art of burying assaults” from Handwara to Kathua, to be published on subsidy by any commission of omissions. Another best seller could be “The funda of Super 50” and there could be other titles of public importance like “Healing via hurting”, “Dialogue during deceit”, “ERA of projects unfinished”, “Jobs without salaries”, “Tours sans tourists”, “Wi-Fi Tulips” and “Know Smoking zones” et al.

The need to write unique best sellers is because none of our Mantris, Sahabs, and Begum jees, of whatever standing, has contributed anything substantial by way of long-term planning and measures for which they would be remembered by the posterity. Instead, our Immaculate Mantris, Sahabs, and Begum jees would give justifications and defend the indefensible, owing their proximity to political kingpins and powerful goons.

The other variant of such species is those in uniform, running a parallel show, forgetting their own primary task. From holding musical concerts to supplying medicines and even mentors, the job of proper policing and public protection in a place-in-conflict is perhaps left to phantoms.

Seems we should not mock our Mantris, Sahabs and Begum jees who have created a history of sorts in all spheres of our society. The crackpot policies and proposals they bake in their hyped Tandoors are enough to leave our generations without anything worthwhile. Acting as typical ‘Expansionists’, they are the reincarnations of bungling kings who keep their show on, at the cost of backdrop cast. And eventually, the cast gets cremated behind the crumbling curtains of creepy performances.

Well, it reminds one about the Indian Idiot Society (IIS), reported by Faking News, the leading Indian news satire website. Talking about such idiots, the report said-“Without them, we would never know who is intelligent. Many institutes would run out of business if there were no idiots. We need to think beyond the usual definitions of intelligence and smartness.”

Bottomline: The Mantris, Sahabs, and Begum jees ….the cunningly smart idiots in Kashmir, occupying chairs of consequence in the system, need to come together and form an umbrella of ‘Brazen Valley Buffoons'(BVB) so that their frivolities and foul agendas get state admiration in the form of accolades, awards, prize portfolios and postings.

Actually not they, but we owe them a lot! We owe our political maturity to them. We owe our sense of justice to them. We owe our advanced learning to them.
