Trump’s Trash

Trump’s victory in the last US elections was not only a surprise for the majority of the American people but to the world at large. He trailed behind democratic party candidate Hillary Clinton by around 2.80 million votes in the popular vote count. However he won the election by getting majority of electoral college votes allocated to the states. It is an inherent defect in the American democratic system that everyone is talking about and want it to be changed. The United States of America is federal republic consisting of 50 states. Some of these sates are quite smaller in size while as others much bigger particularly state of California. The president Trump was able to win 306 electoral college votes while as his opposite candidate Hillary Clinton got only 232. Thereby he created history by becoming  44th president of the United States.

Prior to his victory he had won republic party nomination by thrashing out as many as seventeen rival contenders for this post. A renowned billionaire who has established “Trump” brand all over the world by owning most expensive Casinos and Golf course around the world. He entered his office virtually with  no political experience or exposure to run a country as vast as US. However his business acumen is acknowledged by one all. Donald Trump spent less money ($957.6M) than Hillary Clinton spent ($1.4 B) on her high profile election campaign.

Donald Trump during his extensive campaign across the county made huge electoral promises to the American people. Like doing away with much talked about Obama care, construction of a wall on Mexican border, making China accountable for trade deficit, banning of immigration particularly that of Muslims, bringing back of jobs, calling global warming a hoax, bringing down of high end corporate taxes, making of Jerusalem capital of Israel, solving of the Palestinian problem, stopping North Korea from becoming a nuclear power and striking down of Iranian nuclear deal with Iran etc. Furthermore he did not spare even close American allies and warned them if they want American to continue to protect them from any external aggression or war they shall have to bear its financial cost.

The moment he succeeded in capturing of the power it was expected that he will say good bye to this usual electoral rhetoric and will come to terms with his responsibility as president of a most powerful country in the world. But he is so deeply struck by the hacking and Russian meddling in the US elections that he is unable to focus on any of his election promises so as to earn himself a second term in the office. And if he is actually indicted or it is established that during the ongoing investigation that he was directly or indirectly involved in any such meddling or cover up. He is likely to face charges both on account  of meddling as well for causing of obstruction of justice and face impeachment if necessary.

But despite these heavy odds, he is trying his best to fulfil his electoral promises one by one. Some of which are through while as others have failed to bear the desired fruits. To begin with he tried to put the blanket ban on Muslims entering into the United States but it did not work because of court intervention so it had to be modified. His biggest achievement so far has been passing of the tax reforms, business is doing well and jobs as promises are coming back. Obama care no doubt stands discarded but he has failed to bring in any better law in its place. Construction of Mexican wall is still a far cry and the world as whole has rejected his unilateral decision to recognise Jerusalem as capital of Israel. He has failed to check trade deficit with China or stop North Korea from becoming a nuclear power.

The fact of the matter is that his overall presidency is in complete disarray and the world today is most insecure place than ever before.
