Srinagar, March 27: Jammu and Kashmir Police have launched a probe after a small-intensity explosion took place in the frontier Poonch district.
“We have received info of suspected small intensity explosion like sound heard from an area near Poonch Hospital,” said a police spokesman.
Necessary investigation into the matter has been set into motion to ascertain the exact nature of the material which apparently looks like a hand made crude substance, said a police official.
Sources said the explosion occurred on Tuesday night near a religious place in Hospital Mohalla of Poonch town.
As per official sources, locals heard a loud explosion-like sound after which teams of police rushed to the spot and cordoned off the area.
They said that some splinter marks had also been seen on walls at the site with senior police officers including the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) visiting the site.
“The area is under cordon and the nature of this mysterious explosion is being probed,” said an official.
