Governor inaugurates 66th B N Mullik Memorial All India Police Football Championship

Governor N N Vohra inaugurated the 66th B N Mullik Memorial All India Police Football Championship-2017 here today.

The championship is being hosted by the J&K Police and has attracted 37 teams from all over India.

   

Nearly 1000 football players will participate in the 11-day tournament. 

Basharat Ahmed Bukhari, Minister for Horticulture, Nazir Ahmad Laway, Member of Parliament and a large number of serving and retired Police officers and other invitees were present on the occasion.

Governor observed that besides working long hours to maintain law and order our policemen are also doing extremely well in various games and sports. 

He lauded J&K Police for their devotion to duty and for their achievements in various sports competitions.

Governor suggested to Dr S P Vaid, DGP J&K, to invite school boys and girls to witness the final rounds of matches in this Championship so that they can both enjoy watching well contested matches and also be inspired to participate in sports. He called upon the youth to take an active part in sports besides attending to their studies.

On his arrival, Governor was introduced to the Jury of Appeal, Organizing Committee and Managers of the 37 participating teams which took part in the March Past.

The welcome speech was given by Dr Vaid and the vote of thanks was given by A K Choudhary, ADGP Armed.
