Handwara girl bags gold in National Field Indoor Archery Championship

Eight-year-old Fazeelat Aslam has made Kashmir proud by winning a gold medal at a recent prestigious national championship.

Fazeelat clinched the top prize in the 13th and 14th National Field Indoor Archery Championship 2023-24, held recently in Pune, Maharashtra.

Her outstanding achievement at such a young age has brought great acclaim to both her and her family.

Fazeelat defeated talented archers from across the country to claim the gold medal in her age category. With this impressive showing, she has established herself as an up-and-coming talent in Indian archery.

Fazeelat who hails from the Harnipora area of Handwara won the gold medal under 10 year age category.

More than 250 players under different categories took part in the competition which was held at Rajaram Bhiku Pathare Stadium Pune.

Fazeelat is the daughter of Kashmir News Service Editor-in-Chief, Mohammad Aslam Bhat.

Fazeelat expressed her happiness over her exemplary performance in the competition. “The success could not be possible without the support of parents. My parents have always been a great support for me. I feel proud to represent Jammu and Kashmir at the early stage of my life.”

Fazeelat yearns to represent the country at the International Level and for that, she wants active support from the concerned authorities.
