I-League: Post-match views: I am proud of my team, says Real Kashmir coach

Despite suffering second consecutive home loss in the I-League against Mohun Bagan on Nov 20, the Real Kashmir FC Scottish coach, David Robertson said that he is proud of his team and continues to believe in them.

“I am really proud of my team for putting up a great fight against a team like Mohun Bagan. I will continue to back my players and believe in them till they keep playing like this,” Robertson said after the match on Tuesday.

“It was just two crosses they were able to sneak in our yard and they converted one. Dicka and Kisekka are top players and our defense kept them quite for most of the game and that speaks volumes about how we played. It was another game in office where my team played well and still ended on losing side,” he said.

On being pressed about ineffectiveness of lone striker Krezo upfront, Robertson while defending his player said, “Who said he is not playing well, who is there to judge that me or the journalists. Mohun Bagan employed another central back to mark Krezo and that should put your questions to rest. As opponents focus and mark him other players are able to express themselves better and take advantage. It is game of football and these things happen. I am happy with his performance and the day I see he is not applying himself well, he will not be there”.

About his team’s poor finishing, he said, “We have to understand the fact that Real Kashmir is a new team and playing against teams who have been in top league from decades. They have got everything way better than us and still, we are putting up great fights. It will take time for a club like Real Kashmir to get on level with these clubs”.

The coach who was flanked by skipper Loveday said that he is bringing in another striker to boost the attacking power of his side.

“Everyone is talking about our lack of scoring goals. I have got news for them, we are bringing in new striker and I will not reveal his name yet. I am confident all our problems will be solved upfront in coming games,” he added.
