Indian cricketers sport Army caps, donate match fee to Defence Fund

Paying homage to the CRPF personnel who lost their lives in the Pulwama attack last month, the Indian cricketers sported specially designed camouflaged Army caps in the third ODI here on Friday.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who is a honorary Colonelin the Indian Army, handed over the caps to his team-mates and the supportstaff.

   

At the toss, India captainVirat Kohli announced that the match fees of the players will be donated to theNational Defence Fund.

“This is a special cap, it’s a tribute to theArmed forces. We’re all donating our match fees of this game to the NationalDefence Fund. I urge everyone in the country to do the same, donate and stickto the families of our armed forces,” Kohli said.

A playing XI member gets Rs 8 lakh as match fees per game in ODIs and the reserve players get half that amount.
