Srinagar, Mar 12: 16 residential sheds were gutted in a fire incident at Parimpora area here today afternoon.
“The fire started from a structure and within no time adjoining residential sheds were gutted. A godown and shop were also gutted in the incident. Fortunately, there was no causality,” said Sajad Ahmed a local.
Officials said that as soon as the fire started, fire tenders from the concerned station were pressed into service.
The locals alleged that delay in dousing flames added to the damage. Female residents were seen wailing as their properties were damaged.
Police said that 16 residential sheds and shop were damaged in the incident.
“We accessed the situation and found out that 16 sheds were damaged and a shop set up in tin shed. We have no reports on damaged of vehicle or godown in the fire incident,” said the official. An official said that the fire occurred due to short circuit.
