Ahead of Durbar Move, police seek details of tenants in Srinagar

Ahead of Durbar move to the summer capital, police has urged the landlords of Srinagar to provide details of the tenants, warning that non-compliance will invite legal action.

“The move is aimed at keeping under check miscreants and elements carrying out subversive activities,” SSP Srinagar Imtiaz Ismail Parray told a local news agency GNS.

“I request that all (landlords) should cooperate in providing the information (about tenants) to the nearby police station so that miscreants and subversive elements are kept at bay and under check so that the (Srinagar) city remains safe,” the SSP said.

“The landlords are instructed to inform police about the tenants staying in their premises, so that information is accordingly updated in the police station records. In case anyone fails to provide the said vital information, he/she would face legal action,” he added.
