A two day international conference entitled “Urdu Zabaan Aur Science: Ishtiraak o Iftiraaq” was organized by Directorate of Distance Education, Kashmir University in collaboration with National Council for Promotion of Urdu Language, New Delhi from 24 to 25 September.
The inaugural session of conference was presided over by registrar, Kashmir University, Prof. Nelofer Khan, whereas vice chancellor of Maulana Azad National Urdu University, Hyderabad, Prof. Muhammad Aslam Parvez was chief guest. He delivered key note address.
Director DDE, KU, Prof. Mohiuddin Sangmi welcomed the guests while as former Director of DDE, Professor Shafiqa Parveen expressed her experiences with regard to the conference and distance system of education.
Organizing secretary of conference Dr. Irfan Aalam threw light on the aims and objectives of the two day International Conference. Chief Guest Prof. Mohammad Aslam Parvez in his keynote address highlighted the importance of Urdu vis-à-vis Science.
The book entitled “Iqbal: Maaroozi Tajziye Aur Sciencee Mabaahis” by Dr. Irfan Aalam was also released. Book Review of this book by Dr M. Imtiyaz Ahmad was presented by Dr M. Yousuf Wani. Dr. Altaf Anjum, co-organizer of the conference, moderated the session.
After Inaugural session four parallel technical sessions were conducted where scholars hailing from different local, national and international institutions presented their papers which were followed by healthy discussion. In view the importance of conference theme, V-C KU Prof Talat Ahmed also attended one technical session.
