Qamarwari murder case: Court acquits accused

A local court here acquitted two accused in Qamarwari murder case. 

Court of principal first additional sessions court, Naseer Ahmad Dar, Srinagar acquitted the accused Muhammad Amin Naik of Qamawari and a woman. The accused were acquitted of all charges after five year trial. 

   

On September 30, 2013, Noor Muhammad Khanday of Band Qamarwari lodged a report in police station Qamarwari that his son-in-law was missing. Acting on the report, police started investigation and found his body in river Jhelum. During the investigation, police had indicted the accused.

Defence counsel, Muhammad Abdullah Pandit, challenged the “prosecution story” and pleaded before court that no witness has collaborated it.  “Even prosecution failed to prove alleged call detail between the two accused,” he said. 

After hearing prosecution and defence counsel, the court said, “I am of the opinion that prosecution has been unable to produce clinching and strong evidence against the accused person and consequently failed to prove and establish any of any of the circumstances relied upon by them against the accused persons and resultantly, the prosecution case fails and accused persons are accordingly acquitted of the charges leveled against them.”
