Students showcase skills in science, art, culture

Students showcased their skills in science, art and culture on the concluding day of the educational conclave at Kashmir Harvard Educational Institute at Malbagh here.  

Named as Lackchaar (childhood), school conclave 2018, students displayed their scientific projects and presented their performances during the three-day event. 

   

A three-year old girl Menaal Yaseen from Sparkle school performed on stage reciting prayers. She was the youngest performer of the event.

The event organised by SPACE Communications had participants from different private and government schools from various districts of Kashmir.  

During the three day event, students of Budding Blooms Kupwara, Alfalah Educational Institute Bandipora, Abu Seena Tengpora Srinagar, Hattrick Public School Srinagar, Sanctorum Institute Sopore, Spring Buds Budgam, New Bonvivant School Srinagar, Government School Shalimar, Government School Rajbagh, Government School Nishat, Government Schools Kothibagh and others performed various educational, cultural, art and music items on the stage.

Students as young as six year old demonstrated their skills and interests in different categories during the event. 

Reyaan Khalid Mir, a student enthralled the audience with his dance performance on Hindi and Kashmiri songs.  

Secretary PHE and irrigation and flood control department Farooq Ahmad Shah, who was chief guest on the occasion urged upon students to judiciously use water.

“Millions in the world do not have access to portable water. “Therefore, it becomes imperative for the people in the state to reaffirm their commitment towards water conservation,” he added.

He lauded the efforts of organisers for holding the conclave. “Events like this are important to bring out and polish the potential qualities of students,” he said. 

Eminent poet Zareef Ahmad Zareef, Shobha Kapoor associate vice president Sesame Street, Sajad Bazaz editor and incharge corporate communication J&K Bank, Asif Burza managing director Ahad Hotel Resorts were guest of honour on the occasion. 

Secretary PHE Farooq Shah presented mementoes among the performers.

“I have great love for children. All around the world there are so many developmental programmes happening in schools which provide opportunities to students to get their potential qualities out and polish their talent. Our kids are brilliant and have a fertile mind but there are few opportunities for them. We want to do value addition for students in such activities across Kashmir and later in the entire state,” said Dr Amit Wanchoo, CEO SPACE Communications.

“School conclave is an opportunity and platform generated for our kids so that they can express themselves. I named this activity as Laukchaar, which is the most beautiful part of our life,” he added.

“School conclave will be an annual event from 2018 and we will be covering schools from south, north and central Kashmir. It will be an activity to explore talent of children and provide them a positive interactive platform,” he said.
