The Srinagar city has started to stink as mounds of garbage have piled up due to a strike called by the employees of Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) to seek action against the “misbehaving councillors”.
The employees started their strike on Tuesday to press for their demands which include action against ‘misbehaving’ councillors and officials, and regularisation of workers who have completed seven years in temporary state.
Mounds of garbage could be seen littered in the city centre Lal Chowk, adding to the inconvenience of the residents and traders.
The presence of mounds of garbage triggered a solo protest in the city centre.
