ACB arrests RDD JE for accepting bribe

Jammu, June 11: Anti-corruption Bureau (ACB) Friday arrested a Junior Engineer of the Rural Development Department (RDD) for accepting bribe.

A statement of ACB issued here said that it received a complaint alleging therein that Muhammad Rahid Malik, presently posted as Junior Engineer in Block Sathra, Poonch demanded a bribe of Rs 12000 for releasing payment for construction of a drain in favour of the complainant and five other NREGA card holders.

   

It said that the complainant alleged that he approached the Block Development Officer and Assistant Commissioner Development, Poonch for redress of the complaint, but no action was taken by them.

The ACB statement said that on the receipt of the complaint, a case FIR No 2 of 2021, under section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 was registered in Police Station ACB Rajouri and investigation taken up.

It said that a trap team was constituted that laid a successful trap and caught the accused red handed while demanding and accepting the bribe from the complainant.

The statement said that the amount of bribe to the tune of Rs 6000 was also recovered on the spot.

It said that the accused was arrested and taken into custody by the ACB team.

The statement said that after the arrest searches were also conducted in the premises of the accused.
