Traders of Rajouri, Poonch welcome end of weekend lockdown

Rajouri: Traders of Rajouri and Poonch districts have welcomed the end of weekend lockdown and termed it as a sigh of relief.

Although lockdown restrictions were eased across Jammu and Kashmir two months ago, but weekend lockdown was imposed in both the districts keeping in view rise in number of cases.

   

Weekend lockdown was imposed from every Friday at 08 pm and used to end on Monday morning at 08 am.

Meanwhile, on Sunday, the State Executive Committee of Jammu and Kashmir Government ordered an ease in some restrictions and ended weekend lockdown after which traders of both Rajouri and Poonch heaved a sigh of relief.

“Precautions to Coronavirus are a must but one should also understand loss of business community which is on receiving end due to lockdown,” traders of Rajouri and Poonch said while welcoming the decision to end weekend lockdown but also advocating for strict enforcement of all other SOPs of COVID19 management.

“We are thankful to Government for bringing to an end this weekend lockdown but we strongly favour proper implementation of COVID SOPs,” President BeoparMandalRajouri, Rajesh Gupta said.

“Business hour timing from 08 am to 07 pm is satisfactory and we are hopeful that normal business activities will resume in days to come,” JavedIqbal, a trader from Poonch’sMendhar said.

Meanwhile, weekend lockdown continued in Rajouri and Poonch on Sunday with all roads and business establishments wore deserted looks.
