Srinagar: Light motor vehicle (LMV) traffic will be allowed to ply from both sides of the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway on Sunday, officials said. “Subject to fair weather and better road condition, Light Motor Vehicle (LMV passanger) shall be allowed on both sides of the Jammu-Srinagar NH viz Jammu towards Srinagar and vice-versa” said an advisory issued by the Traffic department.
It may be mentioned that traffic snarls at various places on the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway have been leading to slowing down of the traffic movement on this road. Commuters have been complaining that they remain stuck in traffic jams at various stretches of the highway.
Meanwhile, amid the rise in road accidents along the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway, Traffic Police and Motor Vehicles Department has intensified its drive against drivers involved in overspeeding, overloading and rash driving said to be the major cause behind the mishaps.
