3 soldiers, 2 militants killed near LoC in Rajouri: Army

Three soldiers and two militants were killed in an encounter near the Line of Control in Sunderbani area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district on Sunday, an army spokesperson said.

“Around 1.45 pm, an army patrol came in contact with a group of heavily-armed intruders in Sunderbani,” the spokesperson Lt Col DevanderAnand said. He said that the Army had a “fierce encounter with armed militants very close to the Line of Control in which three soldiers were

   

killed and another one received grave injuries and has been air evacuated to the army’s command hospital, Udhampur where his condition is reported to be stable,” he said.

All slain soldiers killed belonged to 8th unit of Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry from Jammu region, Anand said.

They were identified as havaldarKaushal Kumar, a resident of village Deeng, Nowshera, Rajouri; lance naikRanjeet Singh, a resident of village Gam, Doda and rifleman Rajat Kumar Basan, a resident of Pallanwala, Jammu.

The injured solider was identified as riflemanRakesh Kumar, a resident of Samba.
