6.60 lakh people vaccinated in Jammu district

Jammu, June 10: As many as 6.60 lakh people including frontline workers have been administered Covid19 vaccine in Jammu district till date.

“The vaccination is being successfully conducted across Jammu district and it is aggressively going at Panchayat level in all the blocks with the involvement and coordination of health department, Anganwari workers, ASHA workers, Panchs and Sarpanchs,” said an official.

The official said that Shopian, Ganderbal and Jammu districts have completed 100 percent vaccination of the age group of 45-years and above (first dose), but in the rest of districts they still have to achieve targeted vaccination.

“We are also working to make people aware about vaccination as many have misconceptions,” the official added.

“We are holding camps and vaccinating the people between the age group of 18 to 44 years. Today, the vaccination camps were organised at Jagti Migrant Camp, Abhinav Theatre and Women’s Polytechnic College, Lower Shiva Nagar,” the official said.

Even as the health department has claimed that they have ample stock of Covisheild, the official, wishing not to be quoted, said: “We have a limited stock of Covisheild that is why we are administering it in selected areas.” He hoped that the vaccine will be available after June 21.
