Accept award with humility on behalf of people of J&K: Baig

Srinagar: Senior leader and former Deputy Chief Minister, Muzaffar Hussain Baig on Monday said that he accepts the award of Padma Bhushan with humility on behalf of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. Beigh said that he is highly grateful to the selection committee and the President of India, who is the final authority to decide about the award.

“I am very grateful to the selection committee and the President of India who taught that my political career and contributions should get recognition,” he said.

   

Beigh said that he accepts this award with humility on behalf of the people of Kashmir and Jammu.

On being asked about his contribution in Jammu and Kashmir in the future, he said that it would be pre-mature to say anything as nobody can knows about the future as everything is in the hands of Almighty.

Notably, Muzaffar Hussain Baig was awarded the Padma Bhushan by the President of India, Ram Nath Kovind on Monday for public affairs.

“President Kovind presents Padma Bhushan to Shri Muzaffar Hussain Baig for Public Affairs. He is an eminent political leader from Jammu & Kashmir,” the President of India Tweeted. (KNS)

Javed Ahmad Tak awarded:

Patron Zeba Aapa Institute Javed Ahmad Tak was awarded the Padma Shri at New Delhi on November 8. In a proud moment for the entire Jammu and Kashmir, particularly for district Anantnag, patron Zeba Aapa Institute, Bijbehara was awarded the Padma Shri by President Ram Nath Kovind in New Delhi. Javed Ahmad Tak has a post- graduate degree in social work from Kashmir University.

In 2000 he founded a NGO Humanity Welfare Organization Helpline for welfare of the poor and disabled persons. Javed, himself specially abled, has been confined to the wheelchair since 1997. He was crippled by bullets from unknown gunmen. In 2008, Javed setup Zeba Aapa Institute for inclusive education.

The school caters to specially abled persons, particularly those with visual disabilities. The school was a first of its kind initiative in south Kashmir. The school employs special teaching methods to cater to the specially abled children enrolled in the school.
