Icy Mughal Road unfit for traffic

Although Mughal Road has been cleared of snow, superintending engineer Mughal Road project has, after a safety check, suggested to the chief engineer of the project to no allow any kind of traffic because the road is icy.

Deputy commissioners of Shopian and Poonch, the starting points of the road on Kashmir and Jammu sides, have also been informed about the unfit condition of the road.

The officials have been told that icy condition of the road remained even after sprinkling salt and stated that Mughal Road authorities would not be responsible for casualties in case the traffic is allowed.

“We have decided to keep the road closed as suggested by the authorities concerned,” said superintendent of police traffic (Jammu rural) Mushtaq Chowdhary.

The road closed for traffic seven days ago after heavy snowfall.
