More boys qualify class 10 exam than girls

The board of school education on Tuesday declared the results of the class 10th annual examination held in Kashmir in November last year.

A BOSE official said that 69,056 students had appeared in the examination and of these 43464—22797 boys and 20667 girls—were declared qualified, with the pass percentage of 62.94.

   

The pass percentage of boys is 63.33, followed by girls at 62.52.

The number of boys and girls who appeared in the examination was 35997 and 33059 respectively.

Around 13164 boys and 12378 girls have been declared as ‘fail’ while 2072 boys and 1926 girls have got re-appear.

Meanwhile, the pass percentage of government schools is 46.70 and that of private schools 83.39.

Around 38944 government school students had appeared in the examination and of these, 18186 were declared as qualified.

30312 students had appeared from private schools out of which 25278 qualified the examination.

The number of students having re-appear in one subject is 19880 (girls 9538 and boys 10342), while as those having reappear in two subjects is 20944 (girls 10375 and boys 10569).

16446 students (9161 boys and 7285 girls) have re-appear in three subjects, while 18850 students (boys 9576 and girls 9274) have reappear in four subjects and 25104 students (boys 12921 and girls 12183) have reappear in five subjects.

Meanwhile, chairperson BOSE Veena Pandita congratulated all the students who have qualified the examination and said that they tried to declare the results within one month.

“I extend my gratitude to the district and divisional administration for their support and cooperation for holding fair exams,” she said.

In subject-wise performance, 70.85 students have qualified English subject, 68 percent mathematics, 87 percent Hindi, 75.50 percent Urdu, 72.50 percent Science and 63.30 percent social studies.

Meanwhile, 3737 students have passed the exam with grade A1, 5848 with A2, 6541 with B1, 7716 with B2, 8607 with C1, 63908 with C2 and 699 with D.

The number of students with “disputed eligibility” is six while as only five cases of unfair means have been registered.

“27 and 2 students were disqualified for one and four years,” the figures state.

Secretary school education department Farooq Ahmad Shah hailed the BOSE for declaring the results within shortest possible time.
