Nothing wrong with draft: Ravinder Raina

Jammu: J&K BJP president Ravinder Raina on Wednesday accused the People’s Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) of poisoning the minds of people for electoral benefits and creating misplaced notions about an autonomous institution like Delimitation Commission.

He stated that those parties, particularly NC, Congress and PDP which were opposing the recommendation of the Commission were “enemy of J&K people, especially the deprived sections.”

While addressing media at the party headquarter here, Raina dismissed the

criticism of the interim draft of the Delimitation Commission by PAGD and other opposition parties.

“There’s nothing wrong with the recommendations made by the Delimitation Commission headed by a retired judge of the Supreme Court i.e., Justice Ranjana Prakash Desai. We need to keep in mind that this interim draft has been prepared after a long, hectic and transparent exercise of over two years during which they met leaders of all political parties, social workers, District Development and Block Development Council members, Panchs and Sarpanchs, media persons and other sections of society and collected data from government through Deputy Commissioners and worked on set parameters,” he stated.

Raina alleged that the Gupkar Alliance was the biggest enemy of the J & K people. “They kept SC, ST, women, refugees, Pahari besides the nationalist people living along borders in Kashmir from Uri, Kupwara, Keran, Karnah and Lolab people deprived of their rights during their rule. Now after 70 years, ST population including Gujjar-Bakerwals, Gaddis, Sippis would get justice during the BJP regime. This has unnerved them including the former Chief Ministers and those who served as the Union Ministers and exploited the people.

This is sad that National Conference, Congress and PDP leaders including Dr Farooq Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti are disturbed that the deprived sections are getting justice,” the J&K BJP president said.
