3 terrorist associates arrested in Sopore: Police

Sopore, Apr 2: Three terrorist associates were arrested in the Sopore area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Monday evening, Police said on Tuesday.

A Police spokesman in a statement said that Police in Sopore arrested three Over Ground Workers (OGWs) and seized a pistol, mobile phones, and other incriminating materials.

   

He said that during a routine check at Fruit Mandi crossing in Sopore, Police along with 22 RR and 179 Bn CRPF observed suspicious behaviour from three individuals attempting to flee from the spot.
The Police spokesman said that the trio was intercepted and apprehended.

He said that the three were identified as Faisal Ahmad Kachroo, son of Farooq Ahmad of Baba Yousuf Sopore; Aqib Mehraj Kana, son of Mehrajuddin Kana of Sangrampora, Sopore; and Adil Akbar Gojree, son of Muhammad Akbar Gojree of Khushal Matoo, Sopore.

The Police spokesman said that the trio failed to justify the contents of their phones, which contained incriminating evidence.

He said that while carrying inspection of their cell phones, pistols yielding pictures of the accused persons were found.

The Police spokesman said that these individuals were trying to disrupt the peace and tranquillity of the area.

A case has been registered under FIR No 68/2024 under Section 7/25 of the Arms Act and 13 of the UAPA Act at Police Station Sopore.
