Srinagar, Mar 2: In the lead-up to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s upcoming mega rally in Srinagar, the Jammu and Kashmir unit of the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) held a crucial meeting here to strategise and discuss the mobilisation of people for the event.
The meeting chaired by Sunil Sharma, UT General Secretary, Incharge Kashmir Division and Doda Ramban Kishtwar discussed the preparations for Modi’s rally. Different departments of the party were given different tasks and party leaders were asked to mobilise people.
Speaking to Greater Kashmir, Sunil Sharma described it as a significant event. “This will be a mega rally, and we expect massive participation of people as the people of Kashmir are eager to hear honourable Prime Minister Modi,” he said. “We discussed mobilization of people for the rally and other related things.”
Sharma said that they had called all the district presidents and senior leaders. “Discussion was held regarding the numbers in this rally so that people can attend it from different places. There is a lot of excitement about the rally. There is a lot of enthusiasm about this rally in Kashmir as well as across the country,” he said, adding that there was enthusiasm among the people in Kashmir “where the BJP was regarded as untouchable before”.
“Today, every poor, every person, woman and elderly have full faith in Prime Minister Narendra Modi. And you will get to see that yourself on March 7.”
District Presidents of all 10 ten districts of Kashmir attended the meeting. “ We want this mega event to be one of the most successful rally in Kashmir,” Sunil Sharma said, adding that J&K BJP unit is not leaving any stone unturned in making it a mega event.
“Our efforts to mobilise support for the rally underscore the party’s commitment to expanding its presence in Kashmir and engaging with the local populace,” he said, adding that it will be a mega rally and people from various parts of Jammu and Kashmir will attend. “People will come in droves and flood the venue to listen to the PM.”
The rally is likely to draw attention from across the political spectrum and will be closely watched for its implications on the changing political dynamics of Jammu and Kashmir.

Pertinently, the venue for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s upcoming rally in Kashmir has been shifted from SKICC (Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre) to Bakshi Stadium in Srinagar and the decision comes amidst expectations of a huge turnout for the event, which is scheduled to take place on March 7.
The Prime Minister has been on a whirlwind tour of the country ahead of the announcement of Lok Sabha polls, with his speeches focusing on how his government’s schemes have touched the lives of beneficiaries.
The shift in venue was a need for a larger space to accommodate the expected influx of people. The Bakshi Stadium, with its larger seating capacity, is deemed more suitable to host the anticipated crowd.
