Cooperative Societies being strengthened: Secy Cooperatives

Baramulla, June 7: Secretary Cooperative Department Yasha Mudgal Monday said that various initiatives were being taken up to strengthen cooperative societies to explore more and more livelihood opportunities for the people.

“There is a dire need to harness immense potential of Self Help Groups (SHGs) towards welfare centric activities as these groups can ameliorate the socio-economic conditions at the local level,” she said during her visit to Tangmarg area of Baramulla district conducted to take stock of construction work on ‘KissanGhar’ being established under the Government of India-sponsored RashtriyaKrishiVikasYojana (RKVY).

   

Highlighting the role of various stakeholders, she said that cooperatives had a lot of scope and could directly impact the lives of the people.

Mudgal said that agricultural loans on soft terms were being extended to the farmers by the commercial cooperative banks. She urged upon the people to come forward and reap the benefits of various welfare programmes sponsored by the department.
