Div Com inspects Z-Morh, Zojila tunnel projects, visits Baltal basecamp

Gandebal, June 26: Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Pandurang K Pole Saturday inspected various ongoing works under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) to have first-hand appraisal about the progress on these roads in the district.

During the visit, the divisional commissioner was accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, Krittika Jyotsna, Additional Deputy Commissioner Farooq Ahmad Baba, ACR, Chief Engineer Kashmir PMGSY, SE PMGSY and Executive Engineer PMGSY.

   

On the occasion, he inspected several roads of PMGSY including Kullan-Bota Kullan, NHW-Sarbal, NHW-Bhat Mohalla and Sumbal Bala-Check Gund roads.

Inspecting the progress on Kullan to Bota Kullan road, the executive engineer informed the divisional commissioner that the sanctioned length of this road was 3.40 km at the sanctioned cost Rs 4.55 crore and a total of 60 percent physical work hasdbeen completed so far.

He said 50 percent physical work on Sumbal bala to Check gund road was also completed and was sanctioned at cost of Rs 7.38 crore.

The executive engineer said that progress on other projects was also in full swing.

Highlighting the benefits of better road connectivity for development of rural areas, the divisional commissioner stressed for redoubling efforts and regular monitoring of such roads so that they could be completed well in time without any hurdles.

He directed the concerned officers to immediately settle all issues that were hampering the progress of projects like land compensation, court cases, shifting of utilities and forest issues so that road infrastructure in rural areas was developed in the shortest possible time.

He also directed the officers of PMGSY to expedite the work progress on all ongoing and pending schemes so that they get completed in a time bound manner.

The divisional commissioner exhorted for optimum utilising this working season and stressed for greater coordination among the line departments for removing all bottlenecks that were hampering the progress of road projects in the district in larger public interest.

Later, the divisional commissioner visited Baltal basecamp where he chaired a preliminary meeting with district officers to review the arrangements put in place in view of the visit of Lieutenant Governor on 28 June to Amarnath cave.

He also inspected the facilities available at the Baltal basecamp hospital.

The divisional commissioner also visited the Z-Morh and Zojila tunnel project sites and inspected the work progress of both the projects.

He directed the concerned to expedite the work progress and stressed that all stakeholders shall work with synergy to complete both projects in a time-bound manner which on completion would provide all weather connectivity and facilitate socio-economic boost to J&K.

Executive Director (Project) Regional Office Srinagar, Gurjeet Kamboo; General Manager (Project) PMU Sonmarg, Vijay Kant Pandey and General Manager (Land Acquisition and Coordination), Alok Saxena were present on the occasion.
